Jeff and Polycarp - Luweero, Uganda

Jeff Metzner is a photographer, videographer, director and editor based in Philadelphia who has been creating dynamic images, documentaries and video communications for the past 10 years. His work spans a wide spectrum of disciplines from feature films and broadcast television to commercials, corporate communications, and self-assigned photo documentaries. Whether through video or photographic lenses, Jeff's goal remains the same: to tell engaging and effective visual stories through emotionally compelling images.

Jeff uses a poignant sense of detail to blend straightforward photojournalistic images with a modernist objectivity, engaging the viewer with a seriousness of purpose. His commitment to capturing the world around him with humanistic values is conveyed through visual stories. Jeff received a BA in Economics and Film Studies from Rutgers-Camden in 2000 and went on to study documentary photography at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Jeff has worked for a number of Philadelphia area clients and organizations, traveled to Uganda documenting health care issues, and embarked on self-assigned projects including a photo and video essay of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Jeff continues to enjoy working on both motion and still photography projects. He recently completed his role as director of photography and technical advisor on a feature documentary for director Kevin Williams. His photographs have been exhibited at University of the Arts, Perkins Center for the Arts, Stedman Gallery, and Glam.
